A group of prisoners housed at the Welikada prison are staging a protest on top of the prison roof demanding bail, a spokesman at the prisons department told Daily Mirror online.
At least 15 prisoners who are in remand over drug related crimes are on the roof of a part of the prison demanding bail, the prison spokesman added.
The prisoners later called off the protest after obtaining assurances from the prison authorities.

YES THEY SHOULD BE ON THE ROOFS THESE DAYS AS MANY CRIMINALS ARE HOLDING HIGH POSTS THESE DAYS WHILE THEY LAMENT IN JAIL FOR PETTY CRIMES?
WELL, THE MESSAGE TO YOU GUYS IS.....IF YOU COMMIT A CRIME, MAKE SURE IT IS SERIOUS ENOUGH TO DESERVE BAIL.
