President sends SMS New Year greeting to mobile users

Mobile phone users were surprised to receive an SMS this morning from President Mahinda Rajapaksa wishing them for the New Year. One mobile operator told Daily Mirror online the SMS was sent to all of their subscribers following a request from the President.

The SMS also had a political tone with President Rajapaksa saying that he had freed the nation as promised. The message was in Sinhalese using English letters. (DM Online)
