President Mahinda Rajapaksa, who did not attend the new Parliament sessions today, was however seen in the Parliament premises this morning inside one of the boxes close to those used by the Parliament translators.

Sources said that the President was there to see his son Namal Rajapaksa take oaths as a new Member of Parliament.

He cannot face our war hero SARATH FONSEKA.

    Thursday, 22 April 2010 11:24 AM

Without any real power, our parliament is meaningless!

    Thursday, 22 April 2010 12:34 PM

he is our best president and we all must pray that the good god will give him good health i like to meet him but we can not as some of his own people will not let us in so i hope that the president will read this and ask some one to call me or send me a mail so that i could meet him

SF has not been found guilty of any crime yet to talk about an unconditional pardon.

    Thursday, 22 April 2010 02:13 PM

please note that. its looks very bad & sad to be behind the bars first day of the parliments ?

    Buwa

    Thursday, 22 April 2010 03:03 PM

    who care.....

    Thursday, 22 April 2010 03:09 PM

Thats a very bad example. MR as a victorious man should have come forward with national honours and wished not only his son? all MP's at parliment including SF (people appointed) should have been welcome as a gentlemen. He should have sent a message to the whole world by releasing SF and making him come back good. He missed the bus. Its now proved and wrong signal about a suba anagathayak.

    Kindergarten behaviour?

    Thursday, 22 April 2010 04:07 PM

Thinking about what his next move is ...

    Thursday, 22 April 2010 11:13 AM

The President must be thinking there cannot be two lions in one jungle, so he has opted to sit behind a cage leaving the floor to the other lion.

    Thursday, 22 April 2010 06:03 PM

    NO 'GUTS' TO FACE SF?

    Thursday, 22 April 2010 06:03 PM

Is our President guilty of something?

    Thursday, 22 April 2010 07:59 PM

    MR is testing the cell?

    Friday, 23 April 2010 03:03 AM

    Well said,

    Friday, 23 April 2010 03:20 AM

A proud Father of a great son

    Friday, 23 April 2010 05:41 AM

Like any Dad would! Good on you Mr President, I am not your greatest supporter but fully endorse some of your actions

    Friday, 23 April 2010 07:50 PM

How pathetic to see him like this ...

    Thursday, 22 April 2010 10:34 AM

he is just watching the proceedings.. i think he thats great, he could have made a grand entrance or like our ex presidents sat at home and enjoyed the whiskies...
oh maybe he wanted to see his son being sworn in, any father would like to see that.. its natural,
i think mahinda has done plenty of great things to the country well it has happened under his leadership.. its not for me to argue who won the war and not.. we as lankans have all won the war..
remember if u r father and your son is taking the oath for the first time you would be there too...

    Thursday, 22 April 2010 09:03 AM

LOOK LIKE HE'S BEHIND BARS OR MAY BE WATCHING SARATH/SANATH BATTING IN PARLIMENT

    Thursday, 22 April 2010 09:11 AM

Who is that a SF [Sorry Figure] behind golden bars!!!

    Thursday, 22 April 2010 09:26 AM

Emotional Incarceration presents particularly difficult adjustment problems that make prison an especially confusing and sometimes dangerous situation for men.

    Thursday, 22 April 2010 09:27 AM

what goes around comes around !!!

    Thursday, 22 April 2010 09:50 AM

this is YOUR President. Show some respect even if you don't agree with his policies.

    Thursday, 22 April 2010 09:55 AM

we expected the executive president to have the traditional ceremonial opening after a resound victory not peep from a box!

    Thursday, 22 April 2010 10:11 AM

Why is he hiding behind the bars? It is because SF is let loose with out the hand calf's.

    Thursday, 22 April 2010 10:14 AM

    Was he scared or something?

    Thursday, 22 April 2010 08:46 AM

oh that's sad!!! after such a great victory!!!

    Thursday, 22 April 2010 10:38 AM

The greatest message he can give to the country is unconditional pardon to SF. we can treat it as gift for all for the new year.

    Thursday, 22 April 2010 10:39 AM

Yes right. Is this because he came from a remote town ?

    Thursday, 22 April 2010 10:40 AM

    These guys respect Obama more.

This is what ails Sri Lanka.

    Thursday, 22 April 2010 10:46 AM

HE is suffering from stinking pride. President is absconding as he doesnt want to swear in SF - the same trick Chandrika played when she didnt want to swear in SB!

    Thursday, 22 April 2010 10:56 AM

He is absconding as he does not want to swear in SF. And he is leaving it to the Speaker, his brother. It was the same story when Chandrika avoided swearing in SB.

    Thursday, 22 April 2010 11:04 AM

SF behind iron bars and MR behind golden bars.

    Thursday, 22 April 2010 11:04 AM

    Yes, scare to SF.
