The Colombo Fort Magistrate had issued a notice on the Western Provincial Council Chief Minister Prasanna Ranatunga and his wife Morin Ranatunga to appear in court on July 14 for not appearing before the FCID, Police Spokesman Ruwan Gunasekara said today.

Chief Minister Prasanna Ranatunga and his wife were summoned to the FCID this morning to record a statement over allegedly misappropriating Rs. 5 million with regard to a land transaction.

However, ASP Gunasekara said they were not reported to the FCID and therefore the Police had informed the Colombo Fort Magistrate over their non-compliance.

Meanwhile, another two persons, who were involved in to the incident were also summoned to the FCID today.

ASP Gunasekara said the two had not reported to the FCID and that court had issued a warrant for the arrest the two persons, who were reportedly out of the country.

The FCID questioned Chief Minister’s wife for over 7 hours on July 2 in connection with the same allegation.(Darshana Sanjeewa)
