The Election Commissioner has postponed polls in 60 local bodies where nominations have been legally challenged, the People’s Action for Free and Fair Elections (PAFFREL) said.

Last week, an interim order was issued by the Court of Appeal preventing the holding of the Local Government Elections in Akuressa, Akmeemana and Moneragala Pradehsiya Sabhas.

No wonder that the 18th amendment was passed giving power to the president to appoint the various commissions. Elections is becoming a farce in our country.
