A 41-year-old woman had lodged a complaint with the Peliyagoda Police over a complication following a reduction mammoplasty surgery.
The mammoplasty surgery is performed on women who develop unusually large breasts.
The surgery had been performed by a doctor at a private medical centre in Malabe to reduce the unusually large breast of a woman. The surgery developed other complications later on, the woman said.
The 41-year old mother of two children had lodged a complaint with the Peliyagoda Police against the doctor.
She told Police that she channeled the doctor at the medical centre in Malabe and that the doctor promised to reduce her breast through surgery.
She said that the doctor had claimed a fee of Rs. 200, 000 for the surgery.
“When I told him that I had only Rs.50, 000 and promised to credit the balance to his bank account he agreed to perform the surgery.
“After the surgery I was advised to come again in a week. I called over at the medical centre on the due date, the doctor asked for the balance money without any check up of the surgical wound that was by that time had become infected,” she said.
“Later I consulted the family doctor who referred me to a plastic surgeon. After examining my condition the plastic surgeon referred me to another specialist who asked me about the doctor who performed the surgery.
“However the specialist refused to provide any treatment and advised me to lodge a complaint with the Police and admit to a hospital,” she said in her complaint. (Lal S Kumara)
