Colombo Additional Magistrate Ms. Praharsha Ranasinghe today said that Police could arrest the former Inter-University Convener and presently a lawyer, Udul Premaratne, if he had behaved provocatively during the protest at Wanathamulla, against the arrest of some suspects few days ago.
The magistrate made this observation following a request made by the Borella Police to the Magistrate to issue notice on Udul Premaratne to appear before court to face charges.
The Magistrate also ordered several media organizations to provide video clips of the visuals of the protest that took place at Wanathamulla on April 22 following the arrest of 33 persons of ‘T 20 Watte’, in order to identify the persons involved in the protest. The case was postponed to July 27. (Farook Thajudeen)

What is the criminal offence that Mr. Udul Premaratne has committed? All genuine people who stand for peoples rights have to be in jail? Please encourage authorities to ensure just and democratic society. If not we all will be victims of "Kela Neethiya"(law of the jungle).

Read first why they protesting. Read what he said about how the 33 persons were arrested. The mind set of this country its not injustice if the injustice happens to some else, but its injustice if it happens to them. And those who talk about injustices happening in this country are marked as trouble makers, worse "Traitors".

He was in peradeniya university for several years not for higher studies but to mislead innocent undergrads. Now he tries to disrupt the normal life in the society. How did he become a lawyer?

This is to attract international attention under the guise of human rights or injustice. There are enough people to support this kind of activities with enough financial backings. These people have become puppets of international politics without even their knowledge.
