UPFA candidate Anuradha Jayaratne, son of Prime Minister D.M.Jayaratne gained the highest preference votes in the Kandy District with 107,644 votes. Former Chief Minister Sarath Ekanayake has obtained 70,171 votes and Thilina Tennakoon received 45,060 votes.
