The token strike by the Professional Trade Union Alliance (PTUA) and Drivers Trade Union of the Railways that was planned for tomorrow has been postponed until Thursday, the Unions said.

The decision has been taken after a meeting with the Transport Ministry officials, led by Minister Kumara Welgama this morning, the Convener of the PTUA Janaka Fernando said.

He said that the officials had agreed to meet some of their demands, mainly on salary issue by Thursday. “Until then we have postponed our token strike,” he said.

Meanwhile, speaking to Daily Mirror, Minister Welgama confirmed that the assurance has been given to the trade unions to meet their demands.
