Parliament canteen staffer drowns in Benthara River

A member of the Parliament canteen staff is reported to have drowned in the Benthara River today while they were having a party on a floating restaurant on the Benthara River, police said.

They said he had fallen into the river when he tried to get into another boat for a boat ride.

He was rescued by divers within 15 minutes but had died on admission to the BenthotaHospital.
