What are the charges - Keheliya has said no one complained so now who has complained. If there is a complaint then legal action should follow.

Gaja Banda Thursday, 12 August 2010 04:54 AM

He should be tied to a tree and beaten with a 'pol pitta'!

    bash Thursday, 12 August 2010 05:03 AM

They need a high powered disciplinary panel to probe this incident, which we all saw in video... what a laugh

    DHA Thursday, 12 August 2010 05:04 AM

What is there to probe clearly over and over again he reveals himself as the countries most wanted thug......throw him out.....he only brings a bad name to our country...!!!

    kane Thursday, 12 August 2010 05:12 AM

Another time consuming and eye washing effort.

    TMA Thursday, 12 August 2010 05:17 AM

Typically the probe will prove him innocent. Hahaha!

Above the Crowd Thursday, 12 August 2010 05:49 AM

This is just a hog wash. This would been done a few years ago. He is the hatchet man for the leaders

    bernard Thursday, 12 August 2010 05:50 AM

They will recommend, Mervyn should apologise to Samurdhi Officer and promise not to do such things in future. Mervyn will oblige and that's it. He will be back to work as usual.

    JOHN Thursday, 12 August 2010 06:01 AM

....and all his security personnel and other perks attached to the post should be withdrawn immediately.

    wasanthi Thursday, 12 August 2010 06:02 AM

Innocent, clean man. wastage of time & energy.

    H Silva Thursday, 12 August 2010 04:50 AM

Please don't jump to conclusioons. Lets be patient and see what the outcome is before passing judgement.

    Solonga_b Thursday, 12 August 2010 06:30 AM

Yes of course let's all at least wait till the panel finds him NOT GUILTY and he is re-instated before making these negative comments :-)

    Solonga_b Thursday, 12 August 2010 06:36 AM

I am sorry why is this in the 'news' section? Shouldn't this come under 'entertainment?

    steve Thursday, 12 August 2010 06:50 AM

President’s decision to remove Mervyn from his Deputy Minister’s job, proves Mervyn has committed an offense. Why a panel then????

    Cynic Thursday, 12 August 2010 07:01 AM

Punchinilame and Keheliya should be on the panel. The verdict: Not guilty. Rewarded with more lucrative appointments.

    MaPer Thursday, 12 August 2010 07:07 AM

At the last elections panel probed Aluthgamage for jeering at an election meeting at which president & Amunugama were present. But nothing came of it - same will happen to Mervyn - he might even be elevated from DM to M. After all Sri Lanka is a land ,like no other.

    MaPer Thursday, 12 August 2010 07:09 AM

If an ordinary citizen tied another citizen to a tree for not obeying, then what would be the punishment?

    suwimal Thursday, 12 August 2010 10:43 AM

Yes, because this is a 'Lessons Learnt and Reconciliation' panel.

    garawi Thursday, 12 August 2010 12:27 PM

The panelist are unknown weaklings who will be scared to give a correct verdict.

    Tom Thursday, 12 August 2010 03:21 AM

Haven't you heard "people get politicians they deserve"???

    K.L Wednesday, 11 August 2010 04:28 PM

is it penal action? whom do they think misleading. law should be rendered core subject of school currirulum

Suny J from Melbourn Wednesday, 11 August 2010 04:33 PM

he will come out clen...what happened to Nawalapitiya issue ...?? just an eyewash....

    citizen1 Wednesday, 11 August 2010 04:42 PM

Humour is in great abundance. Even though we are not a rich country, we love a good laugh!

    azath Wednesday, 11 August 2010 04:43 PM

All his actions are very public, there is no actual need of a panel to investigate. he should be removed from all the posts and position and tried in court of law for his crimes.

    Jay Wednesday, 11 August 2010 06:43 PM

The public needs to hold the government's 'feet to the fire' on this issue ...

    Elaris Wednesday, 11 August 2010 07:09 PM

What happened to the report that probed into the deputy minister's conduct at Rupavahini corp, sometime back?

    Delgoda Wednesday, 11 August 2010 07:13 PM

This time he has done something good! Please give the man the credit, when and where it is due. Haven't you'll dealt with our government officers? They treat us like dirt!

Gamini Perera Wednesday, 11 August 2010 09:25 PM

What a joke! We know what happened to the "Rupavahini" panel!

    Nandana Wednesday, 11 August 2010 10:59 PM

We don't need comedy films ... these are good enough!

    Girigoris Wednesday, 11 August 2010 04:25 PM

    Verdict, Not Guilty.

Citizen Kane Thursday, 12 August 2010 03:32 AM

another farce..Mervyn will be back on his job in no time..and all of us will look like fools..AGAIN...

    PGLP Thursday, 12 August 2010 03:35 AM

Correct decision to remove from his portfolio. Should have waited for the panel report for the suspension from the party.

mata nikang hithuna Thursday, 12 August 2010 04:10 AM

What disciplinary committee ? Bring him to courts for all his crimes. Ooooops ! Then lot of leaders will be in trouble.

    Roshan Thursday, 12 August 2010 04:24 AM

Why panel and recomendation, he should be charged by the court, there are ample evidence for his misdeed.

    omega Thursday, 12 August 2010 04:31 AM

    A charade

Muhandiram Imsid Thursday, 12 August 2010 04:34 AM

What are the charges that are under investigation? Who have leveled the charges? The apparent secrecy about the "charges" seems fishy.

    Ranjan Thursday, 12 August 2010 04:46 AM

He should be in remand prison. Why you have to appoint a panel when he has violated the state of the law? Taking him out of his duties is not enough. Put him in jail for like ten years for humiliating the Sri Lankan law.

    Ranil Thursday, 12 August 2010 04:48 AM

I think the government thinks we are all fools. Must be thinking that by appointing a commission, everyone thinks there will be action against this foolish minister.

everyone knows that in three months maximum, Marvyn will be back
