An earth tremor hit Padiyathalawa a short while ago, the Geological Survey and Mines Bureau said.

Dr. N.P. Wijayananda Chairman of the bureau told Daily Mirror the earthquake measured 2.9 on the Richter scale.

“There is no reason to panic, it’s of a very minimal nature. No damages have been reported so far,” he said. (Yohan Perera)
