We are a small country. We don't live in a vacuum. To add to that we are in a strategically important location in the Indian Ocean. Eventually we will have to choose sides. Siding with the US is not surprising.

What are we getting in return ? What if US attacks Sri Lanka itself? Our Army has to support US army??

We have signed an international agreement and we cannot back out now without repercussions. If we agreed the US could use our facilities in case of a conflict, then we are bound by the terms of that agreement. In any case they have a well stocked base just south of S/L in the island of Diego Garcia The US Navy operates a large naval ship and submarine support base, military air base, communications and space tracking facilities, and an anchorage for pre-positioned military supplies for regional operations aboard Military Sealift Command ships. Therefore its very unlikely that they would use the limited facilities available in S/L
