Paba’s husband bailed out

MP Upeksha Swarnamali’s husband Mahesh Chaaminda Walawegama was warned and released on a cash bail of Rs.2500 and a personnel bail of Rs.100,000 by the Gangodawila Magistrate, a short while ago, according to the Greater Colombo DIG Daya Samaraweera.

He was warned by the Magistrate not to cause harm to the actress. The next hearing is due on May 2.

Walawegama was wanted by the police for allegedly assaulting the actress across her face. He surrendered to the Mirihana police last evening.

The popular actress better known as Paba is still undergoing treatment at Sri Jayawardenapura Hospital for the injuries she sustained last Wednesday.

Mr. Walawegama who was asked to come to the Mirihana Police Station on Thursday had done so only yesterday escorted by his parents and his lawyer. (Supun Dias)
