One killed, over 20 injured in accident

A woman was killed and 22 others seriously injured when a tipper truck collided with a bus at Sandunpura in the Mahiyangana- Polonnaruwa main road last evening (3).

The injured including ten men and eleven women were admitted to the Dehiattakandiya hospital and a woman in critical condition was transferred to the Polonnaruwa General Hospital.

Drivers of both vehicles were also among the injured.

    I think 90% of the accidents are bus drivers if you can control the speed and the attitude of these drivers the roads will be safer. All you have to do is just stand on a main road and watch you can judge your self.Mind you there are some silly car and van drivers as well.Cheers

    Tipper truck drivers should be given special training and should be told to renew their license every month. They drive the fully loaded monster trucks like three wheelers, endangering the lives of every road user.

    Did anyone stop to think about the training the bus drivers have?! These buses are driven like projectiles and not vehicles, especially on the long and medium distance routes.
