A politically strong person who will not bow down to political pressure and the plum of office. We should be proud of people like this.

Is it a crime to be a Professor with a common touch?. Are the medical organizations looking for a person who can "see no evil, hear no evil" of their clan? Appointing him to this coveted post will be detrimental to the medical organizations with vicious intents.

detrimental to the profession - meaning he will implement policies that will require accountability from doctors against current practices based purely on income and not on ethics

Hon. Ranil Wickremasinghe, Permanent Leader of the Opposion, please take note and an example from Prof. Carlo Fonseeka, that here are gentlemen in Sri Lankla, who value theiri dignity, shame and esteem, to being, kicked, pushd and poopooed whjen cliging veerciously to Power. Prof. Carlo Fonseka, express disinterest not in a delapidated torn to pieces
Party, but one concerning the Whole Medical Organisations.

The nuances of this situation is still unclear to me. First of all, I'm quite aware that what is being said is not related to the real situations/reasons.
Why did Prof. Mendis submit her resignation?
There is no-one in Sri Lanka who is not political; so what are the real reasons why medical councils oppose Prof. Fonseka?

these doctors who learnt from free education for at least 15years dedicating their most plesant era in the life but neither serving to the nation or politics and always claim for their demands though they get 50 thousands (with allowances) per month . they are not doing night duties as well as they are not serving the rural community.
if these doctors not there we could achive better place in the health sector in the world and I cann't understand that why these fellows against this so called private medical schools and such a veteran prof, Fonseka who goes hand to hand with minister S.B.
