In the backdrop of some UNP members criticising the party hierarchy in public, UNP leader Ranil Wickremesinghe today issued an order in terms of the party’s constitution, barring its members from making statements without approval by the party, General Secretary Tissa Attanayake said.

It is prohibited for the Working Committee members to start various funds, to create forums or organisations without approval by the party. (Kelum Bandara)

Very good. It's high time the party leader cracked the whip on all those who don't fall in line. Mr Wickremasinghe's leniency was taken as a weakness, but not any more.

It is true ... so far whatever happened in UNP leadership changed in a very decent manner. Never had situations like this before. Let the time comes for the leader to be appoint according to the party constitution. Don't blame only Ranil for 13 elections to lose. Everyone of the party is responsible. There is no unity ..... that is the biggest issue. Who create issues are most of the new comers. We all supporters of UNP want this regime ousted. I believe if UNP wins ... make sure not take back all who crossed over.to Regime

IF IT GOES THIS WAY THE PARTY WILL LOSS NOT 13 ELECTIONS BUT FOR EVER.

What ever it is, there should be decepline in any party. Once a leader is selected by a majority, it is the prime duty of the members to follow him and bring the party to success. When other working committee members pull from various directions, how can any party progress and win elections. So, you cannot blame the leader but should blame the people who pull from various sides who does not support the leader.

Ranil should go home and rest

UNP will be in the opposition forever with RW and his cronies.

Very good comment. But the problem is UNP is loosing all elections under his leadership.
