There is no presence of operatives of the banned LTTE in Tamil Nadu, asserted DGP Letika Saran. She told reporters in Tiruchi on Tuesday that the police have confirmed that there were no LTTE elements in Tamil Nadu in the wake of an alert on the threat to political leaders in the state. However, she said that adequate protection will be given to political leaders in the state during the ensuing assembly elections.

Letika Saran said she had sought a report from SPs about the law and order situation in their districts, problems anticipated during elections and their requirements to tackle the problems. (Times of India)
