New portfolios being finalised

Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe and former president Chandrika Bandaranaike Kumaratunga are in the process of finalising the list of members from the two main parties to be assigned portfolios in the national unity government, party sources said yesterday.

It is learnt that the new ministers will take their oaths on Monday.

Some members have requested that they be assigned the same portfolios they held during the tenure of the 6-months old government while some others have requested that the subjects previously assigned to them be changed.(Kelum Bandara)

Totally disagree that UPFA has nominated several MP on the national list, those who the people have rejected, Election Comissioner must reject this, if a MP was nomonated to be elected by the people and if such MP has failed to be considered by the people to representate them in parliment, so who are they going to representate, an utter wasteage of money! There are so may well qualified people than this roughs... Real disgrace, shameless people...

Under the 19a choosing the portfolios is vested in the P M and no assistance should be taken from any outsider who has no mandate to do so. If RW needs any assistance he should consult the President.
