New appointees for foreign missions soon

Twenty nine Heads of Missions and 37 Minister Councilors for overseas countries will be appointed soon, the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Ajith P. Perera said today.

According to Deputy Minister, relevant recommendations have been presented to the President Maithripala Sirisena for his approval.

“When the president comes back from abroad, he will consider about the appointments after which the approval from the High Post Committee of the Parliament will be obtained,” Perera said.

It had been alleged that the previous appointees who were recently recalled were appointed through political influence and many of them were relatives or supporters of politicians, including that of former President Mahinda Rajapaksa.

Accusations were also focused that they have been appointed without any test or examination on their capabilities and also without fulfilling the necessary criteria. (Piyumi Fonseka)

Hope that the new representatives were chosen after some test or examination. If not it will again be a political appointment, this time from a different political party.

Such appointments do NOT come to the public Domain.. IF these appointments are genuinely transparent... these job vacancies should be advertised so ANYONE with qualifications can apply... MOST in the previous regime were political appointees... and what did Yasara Abeynaike have other than the fact that she was an ex GF of Yoshita who covered up for him about the Murder of the Sri-Lankan ruggerite Wasim Thajudeen?
