MP Namal Rajapaksa who went to declare open an electrification project in Bogaswewa, Padaviya had a narrow escape from a wasp attack yesterday.

But ten army personnel and twenty villagers were stung. The wasps had been disturbed before Mr. Rajapaksa began to address the meeting after declaring open the electrification project, villagers said.

His security detail had escorted him to his vehicle.

An army captain, a lieutenant, eight privates and twenty villagers had been stung and rushed to hospital for medical treatment, sources said.(Sithum Chathuranga)
