The Leader of the Opposition in Lok Sabha, Sushma Swaraj, spoke with Sri Lankan President Mahinda Rajapaksa at a breakfast meeting on Friday morning.
Sri Lankan Presidential Spokesperson Bandulla Jayasekera said that the Indian High Commissioner Asok K. Kantha accompanied Ms. Swaraj. G.L. Peiris and Laltha Weeratunga participated from the Sri Lankan side.
On Thursday, Ms. Swaraj at a function spoke of the need for a “genuine political settlement” to the Tamils issue in Sri Lanka. She also reiterated India’s commitment to remain closely engaged with the Sri Lankan to advance the process of rehabilitation, reconstruction and national development. (Source: The Hindu)
