If 275 sites are banned, internet porn must be bringing lot of money for the operators.

Govt.'s hell bent obsession to ban porn. But they'll never stop the country's ever increasing rape rate

    legaltalk Thursday, 16 September 2010 10:18 AM

what a load of nonsense! what jurisdiction does the juvenile court in battaramulla have in banning porn sites? someone should file a fundamental rights application against this. if two adults can consent to having sexual relations, there is nothing wrong in such adults consenting to filming or photographing their sexual relations and for other adults to view it. if at 18 I can decide to sacrifice my life for the country by joining the military, consent to putting my health at risk by drinking alcohol and smoking - then what jurisdiction does a juvenile court - who is not entitled to hear cases of an adult nature - and i would argue that pornography is essentially an adult matter - and a court in battaramulla at that - in banning such websites?!

Can we have list of those banned please for information purpose.

    coolman Thursday, 16 September 2010 11:26 AM

    Dear Mr. legaltalk.
The issue is not people having sexual relations and concenting to filming them selves in the procecess. The issue is that these videos are being published on the internet which in turn can be acessed by anyone who has an internet connection. Would you like your children to have access to these type of filth? You talk of fundermental right. These filth on the internet are infringing on the fundermental rights of all decent people.

Most of our politicians private lives are more filthier than porn.

    Nimesh Thursday, 16 September 2010 12:22 PM

Coolman - There is 2 sides to this issue. If under age children are watching these, parents must take necessary action to stop it. Banning these sides for adults are creating another social problem which the juvenile court can't understand. Adults become desperate with this action and thats why we see the increased number of sick people in public transport and near tution classes bothering innocent girls. Its all after they banned these sites. Danger is, when these sick people don't have porn to watch, they go for real.

This decision is soo dumb .. if they think banning porn sites is an answer to most of the problems, they are wrong.. most of the raping happens in very rural areas where no internet access can be granted.. and the funniest thing is no can can ban internet.. there are plenty of free proxies so anyone can go anywhere

    JANAKA_LONDON Thursday, 16 September 2010 02:42 PM

This is Banana Republic man. Not a democracy. You, me and freedom have no place where idiots rule a country. This is the Sri Lankan hypocracy at it's best.

    Ibog Thursday, 16 September 2010 03:02 PM

ha ha.. this is list updated every week .. some guys / gals doing a great job by listing these sites.Filtering these sites is going to be a big job for ISP ... funniest thing is they are not asking to block the whole site ( there are ) but specific URLs from those sites.
