The Buddhist monk who set himself on fire in front of the Dalada Maligawa, Kandy in protest of cattle slaughter succumbed to his injuries at the National Hospital a short while ago, hospital sources confirmed.
Taking your own life is the biggest sin in this world. Only a mentaly very unstable person will carry out an act like this in a public place.

Although the monk has not achieved what he wanted he has opened the eyes of the society on killing cattle.

This is against true Buddhism. No wonder even most reverened monks are doing bad things than this. These are the repurcussions of monks doing politics. Where is the buddhasasana minister? Every life is precious not only cattles
Ruwan Sunday, 26 May 2013 07:59 AM
Yes he should be a mentally unstable, because of his extremism

We must not always see the bad site. It's a tough decision to self immolate - it not at all easy - we can all say it's wrong but he tried to make a point - and his commitment should be appreciated rather than critiquing everything.

It is indeed a very sad story. The well know author Robin Sharma wrote a book call " The Monk who sold is Ferrari", now here in sri lanka we can write a book call " The monk who sacrificed his life because of a cattle". here their are rapist, drug dealers, underworld gangs, but no one to protest them or voice against them,
