Monk indicted

The Attorney General today indicted the Venerable Uvatenna Sumana thero and four others before the High Court of Colombo for committing offences  under the Emergency Regulations and Offensive weapons Act.

The Attorney General by his indictment complained that the suspect, Venerable Uvatenna Sumana had retained 50 hand grenades, two T56 assault Rifles and 210 live bullets in his possession by violating the Emergency regulations and Offensive Weapons Act.

The Attorney General charged the accused on nine counts under the Emergency Regulations and eight counts under the Offensive Weapons Act.

High Court Judge Ms. Deepali Wijesundera issued summons on the suspects to appear in court on August 30 and fixed to call the case on that date.
