Cabinet spokesman Minister Keheliya Rambukwella said that the media had already taken action against Lasith Malinga’s behaviour and there was nothing left for his ministry to do.

Responding to a question by a journalist regarding the action that would be taken when journalists were attacked verbally or in any other way, the minister said he would always protect the journalists.

He said that if media thought that the action they had taken was correct he would not object to it.

“If anyone misbehaves, it will always be wrong no matter what the circumstances are,” He said.

Referring to the recent incident that took place on Passikudah beach, the minister said that young boys could make mistakes but if they went too far and caused much trouble, they would be dealt with according to the law.

“There are certain media outlets that try to give the wrong impression and exaggerate when reporting such incidents. I don’t approve of such actions,” he said.(Lahiru Pothmulla)

Media didn't ask a stupid question in a bad manner from malinga. They just asked 'DID YOU SIGN THE AGREEMENT?'.After that he reacted as a beast.if one of the world's majestic and gentlement cricketer sanga answered for the same question by being in the limited frame y malinga couldn't?By the way at least can malinga be compared to majestic sanga in the world cricket arena? Malinga just showed his illiteracy. via DM Android App

Mr. minister! If you say you don't approve exaggerations and wrong doings How come you approve of so many wrong doings that your government commits...... I understand you need to keep your job but dont paint a cleans picture of yourself when you are not. via DM iPad app

Just Another Citizen Friday, 08 March 2013 02:42 AM

Another stupid statement. Obviously all these people think they can get away with anything. As the saying goes - Sticks and stones may hurt my bones but words do not.

    justin Friday, 08 March 2013 02:42 AM

Mr. Minister, don't let your son behave in this manor in public. As his record is also ...........

    maneesha Friday, 08 March 2013 02:49 AM

Umm. I think people are just blowing this out of proportion. So he was being a bit of a Diva.. Not saying it's good behaviour but why are we getting so worked out about it. And Why would the ministry get inolved? Not like he actually commited a crime come on!!!

kay parker Friday, 08 March 2013 02:52 AM

    Minister Boy's are Boy's .... don't say more

    hussain Friday, 08 March 2013 12:00 AM

the amount of courage media shown in denouncing the act of malinga is somewhat over acting....if the could take on the governments activities head on could bring about some meaningful results to the country. It appears every is missing on the priority... via DM Android App

    very good mr rabuckwalla......i

    modaya Friday, 08 March 2013 03:46 AM

I hope that Malinga will never apologize for his action. Only the he will be treated as a hero.

    ANTON Friday, 08 March 2013 04:01 AM

Do you think the way media questioned from Malinga is correct ?
Remember all of us have our own dignity.

    asoka Friday, 08 March 2013 04:04 AM

Mr. Minister why you always give stupid answers....? Is it by nature or someone forcing you...?

    dhaka Friday, 08 March 2013 04:41 AM

shut up wanna be tough guy. show your swag elsewhere

    Lobo Friday, 08 March 2013 02:34 AM

Leave Malinga alone! What he did was wrong but not as bad as the press is making us believe. After all they're no angels either..

    colomboresident Friday, 08 March 2013 05:09 AM

I think Malinga is entitled to his bad moods and it is not a crime what he did. However, the media should stop showing the video, since his fans and society (bad as it is) will learn to do the same.

Play Boy Friday, 08 March 2013 05:28 AM

What Malinga did was better compared to some funny stuff done by the ministers.

    Rasheedomar Friday, 08 March 2013 05:30 AM

The media should forget the incidence rather than just keep showing it. They also should't ask stupid question. No wonder Minister like Mervyn and others blasting the Media.

    Mithra Friday, 08 March 2013 05:43 AM

Thank god that person like you left UNP

    R Friday, 08 March 2013 05:50 AM

Best for malinga is to apologies for is act, which all of us know wrong. Probably he was in a messed up mind with the contract fiasco, however for a celebrity like malinga he should know to control himself. bTw exposing a persons private and taking photo in public is not exaggeration it called "PERVERTISM"

    Ken Friday, 08 March 2013 09:09 AM

This is a very good example that media is ALWAYS biased. Why do they dig Malinga's past now ? If they knew his past & IF they are so honest &un biased why didn't they do it before ?

    prem Friday, 08 March 2013 09:30 AM

Dont make this also politics. Leave him to play cricket for the country

    Grumpy Friday, 08 March 2013 09:35 AM

Boys will be Boys?? So can a boy rape a girl?? End of the day Minister says that Boys are boys... jokers!

    Max Friday, 08 March 2013 09:42 AM

Journalists will be protected.. LMAO! Nice joke minister!
