Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on Friday reportedly assured the DMK that he would talk to External Affairs Minister S.M. Krishna and take appropriate action on a request of the party to support a resolution to be moved by the US, France and Norway against Sri Lanka in the UNHRC for ‘human rights violations.’

DMK Parliamentary Party leader T.R. Baalu met Dr. Singh and presented a memorandum containing the DMK's resolution passed recently in this regard. He told The Hindu that Dr. Singh promised to get back to the DMK after discussing the issue with Mr. Krishna.
“The party told the Prime Minister, reiterating DMK president M. Karunanidhi's statement, that the DMK will not compromise anything less than a full support of the resolution (against Sri Lanka),” Mr. Baalu added.

Mr. Karunanidhi, in a statement issued in Chennai, had urged India not to back Sri Lanka at any cost at the UNHRC meeting though Colombo had claimed New Delhi's support. (The Hindu)

India has no choice other than to support SL in everything with no exception. Let us not worry.

So you think that SL can always play China against India and get your needs!
What an ignorant person you are.

India would say that it is an internal issue and would not vote in favour of Srilanka. Smart Indian!!!!!

if India vote aginst the resolution, it can proves that it is real friend of Sri Lanka. Otherwise, it will be sidelined in Sri Lanka by using Chinese influence.

Gaja Banda Sunday, 04 March 2012 05:42 AM

It will be interesting to see whether SL's closest neighbour would extend their support in the hour of need.

India may become neutral, if so what others would do? After all mid-centre India went towards off-centre leaning towards the West, Pakistan may do justice!

India always played double game since Indira Ghandi time.

what you mean by Sri Lanka., it it people of the country or some one in power ?

    Jagath Sunday, 04 March 2012 07:36 AM

This is the good time to decide who are the good friends of Sri Lanka and if India votes with west or even she takes the neutral position of course China and Russia would be given the much better opportunities while we deciding with the priorities of given the any projects .

It is time for India to pay Sri Lanka with the same coin. Sri Lanka took India for a ride during the war, and is trying to do the same after the war. The Foreign Minister S.M. Krishna said with Foreign Minister G.L.Peiris standing aside that “President Mahinda Rajapaksa has assured visiting Indian External Affairs Minister S.M. Krishna that the government would deliver on its promise to implement the 13th Amendment plus and go beyond to devolve meaningful power to the Provincial Councils. In other words, Rajapakse has double-crossed S.M.Krishsna. Therefore, it is time he pays the price. S.M.Krishsna, i he has even an iota of self respect should vote for the US resolution at least to regain his reputation.
