UNP Leader Ranil Wickremesinghe today claimed UNP MP Mangala Samaraweera was innocent and alleged that the government had manipulated the list of those to be arrested by preparing a list which was different to that mentioned in court.
Mr. Wickremesinghe told a news conference in Colombo that there was a political move to destroy the UNP.
“Therefore Mangala Samaraweera is a political prisoner, and it’s a joke to hold the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting in Sri Lanka while there are political prisoners in the country and it lacks an Independent Police Commission, an Independent Elections Commission and an Independent Judiciary,” he said.(YP & LP)

Why is the US Embassy and the EU silent. Is it because this was a fight between Sinhalese people and they are not entitled to Human Rights?
