An unidentified man is currently staging a protest on top of a hoarding post near the Viharamaha Devi roundabout in Colombo this morning holding up banners of President Mahinda Rajapaksa.

The protestor, who has a helmet on, is urging President Mahinda Rajapaksa to address some of his grievances, eyewitnesses said. He claims in posters in his hands that so far the authorities have turned a blind eye to his requests but has not mentioned what those demands are.

Police officers at the sight said that they have already informed the fire brigade to arrive in order to reach the top of the post and attempt to bring the protestor down. (Daily Mirror online)

This is what the country has come to. One needs to go to the highest of echelons (literally and politically) to seek justice or opportunities. This is a classic symptom of a banana republic.

I suppose this could be the former Colombo mayor Imthiyas. Let's wait until the helmet is removed and see

I thought the CMC has removed all hoarding. If he is a supporter of the government, jump. If not please come down and look for a better future.

Desperation sets in when normal democratic channels for protest are taken down systematically.

May be he's right. Though there's a big bunch of cabinet ministers, each and every problem resolved recently, was addressed/handled by president himself.

He should really control air traffic from up above . All
helicopters take the left lane, Military air craft to the right,Passenger jets in the middle lane. Three wheelers can go all over the place.

Selfishness at it's peak. Typical Lankan.
