It is sad he died, but he died a compassionate human trying save a life.

    pasha Friday, 10 August 2012 05:48 AM

who will look after their father?

    Dadoriya Friday, 10 August 2012 06:29 AM

There are many to save humans and very few to save poor animals. This is a great man.

    thusitha Friday, 10 August 2012 06:46 AM

this man was great to die for a animal.poor guy

    Truth Friday, 10 August 2012 07:21 AM

    Respect..!! RIP

    Dencry Friday, 10 August 2012 07:30 AM

Dayan you are absolutely correct, people don't have a feel for human beings where will they feel sympathy for a cat. Similar situation occurred in the Maldives where the son went down into a pit which was blocked, as there was no response his father went down and in this manner they lost a father, son and a friend 3 lives due to a deadly gas in the pit. Saving a life is a brave act.

    Malkantha Friday, 10 August 2012 07:51 AM

spoken like a true selfish fellow - SL is is in this situation due to people like you.

    Malkantha Friday, 10 August 2012 07:53 AM

not the brightest thing to do but then the man's kindness and humane nature overcame common sense. In a land full of people like you sit comfy behind a pc and make selfish comments - people like the deceased need to be given LOTS of respect.

    Don Friday, 10 August 2012 08:21 AM

I would put a bucket first...

    Chandler Friday, 10 August 2012 05:36 AM

hrm , who would perform any act that has the potanetial to risk one's life. If that's not stupity what else is that!
Rule 1 - Look after your-self before helping others.

    Adam Friday, 10 August 2012 09:59 AM

    But it still exists

My lanka Friday, 10 August 2012 11:13 AM

He was not drowned. It seems a misterious poisonaous gas exists in the well. Other 4 went in to help him escaped death. Authority should inspect the wells in this area and advise the people.

Lanke Banda Friday, 10 August 2012 02:15 PM

What a Human amongst so called Humans who are actually Beasts in Human disguise.

    mark Saturday, 11 August 2012 04:06 AM

    how a great man

nicky karunarathna Saturday, 11 August 2012 04:12 AM

Anyway he will get nine lives next birth due to his meritorious deed. Giving a life to another's life is- most supreme act one can perform as a wholesome human being!

john ayya Saturday, 11 August 2012 06:00 AM

Malkantha, you are one million % correct

    warren Sunday, 12 August 2012 06:53 AM

Man.. what a guy !! I've seen things happen to people on the road and others just walk by without even a glance, maybe those are the type of people who have commented negatively here.. you people don't even have the decency to respect the dead. No one will try to save a human let alone an animal in this day and age and what this gentlemen has done has revived the hope that I had lost in humanity... and the other 4 who jumped to save him !!! Amazing act of bravery and valor... In most other countries they'd be known as HEROES.. and for most Sri Lankans they are !!

    zafee Friday, 10 August 2012 04:21 AM

    Real human.

Dayan Fernando Friday, 10 August 2012 05:32 AM

    Totally agree with you hrm

    gael87 Friday, 10 August 2012 05:37 AM

yahh..after most talented people left the country..stupid and heartless people only remains..its normal.

Calistus Jayatilleke Friday, 10 August 2012 05:32 AM

In the current atmosphere of the country where human rights have gone to the dogs, the existence of such men who show kindness to animals is very honourable, indeed.

    pasha Friday, 10 August 2012 05:18 AM

    only for animal

    Ruwan W. Friday, 10 August 2012 05:22 AM

That may have been cat‘s tenth, but, man has only one chance. In the end they only saved the well. Feel sorry for them, though it wasn’t worthy cause.

    InvictuSriLankan Friday, 10 August 2012 05:29 AM

WOW!!! In a day and age where we so many 'men' abusing and killing innocent animals, this man's sacrifice has to one of the more noble stories told. Sympathies to the family but I am sure his kids can be proud that their Father was a real human being!!!

    hrm Friday, 10 August 2012 05:27 AM

    your conclusion is also stupid

    Dadoriya Friday, 10 August 2012 05:08 AM

This is very sad news. This is a great man. My thought are with him.

Dayan Fernando Friday, 10 August 2012 04:58 AM

I am sad to see some of the comments written by people after reading such articles as this. People don't have respect even for the dead. I believe many years of war in our country has left us heartless. How can anyone call this man who died stupid. How would he have known if this would happen to him. Who ever he was, he has had a great heart. A heart full of love. Please appreciate that. Deepest Sympathies to his family. I now live in Australia and reading comments written on any tragic news when compared to each society makes me wonder what has happen to the humane nature of us Srilankans.

    gowravi Friday, 10 August 2012 04:40 AM

the unconditional love for his pet ..

    Fazli Friday, 10 August 2012 04:42 AM

I feel for him, needless to say, he is a gem.

    Daya Friday, 10 August 2012 04:33 AM

He thought about a life dieing in front of him. That's all on his mind. He is not selfish.

    Jena Friday, 10 August 2012 04:29 AM

I won't appreciate his effort despite of its value.. Coz Has he thought of his family b4 jumping in to the well ?

    Mayu Friday, 10 August 2012 04:30 AM

It proves humanity still exists in my country. RIP!

    Chandler Friday, 10 August 2012 04:19 AM

Stupidity and lack of safety knowledge.
