Major Pradeep transferred

Army Intelligence officer, Major Chandana Pradeep, who was found guilty by the Army’s Court of Inquiry, was transferred from the Military Intelligence Corps yesterday, informed sources said.

“He was transferred to a shadow unit with effect from yesterday,” a senior military official told the Daily Mirror yesterday.

The decision has been taken after the investigation report of the Army’s Court of Inquiry, appointed to probe the alleged brawl between the Army Major and a government Minister’s son at a Colombo hotel, revealed that the Major had provided security to a businessman at the time of the incident using his service weapon unlawfully.

Major Pradeep was in charge of the Sri Lanka Army’s Colombo-South Intelligence wing. (SJ)

How would you know? Was there a golden hand shake behind the scene to take the blame? Was the so called client for whom security was provided a plant to make the case water tight? Would you as a normal citizen be given the same treatment for starting a fight in a public place, illegal security or not? Ans such quick justice as such? There would be a million unanswered questions in this case and many more like cases. As they call S/L the "miracle of Asia" anything is possible.
