The US said today it was looking forward to the resumption of a more comprehensive military relationship no sooner the Sri Lankan Government makes progress towards reconciliation and accountability.

In a speech at the Harvard University in Boston on ‘U.S. Foreign Policy in South Asia: A Vision for Prosperity and Security’, South and Central Asian Affairs Bureau Assistant Secretary Nisha Biswal said the US continued to call for credible efforts to ensure accountability and justice in Sri Lanka.

“Sri Lanka has fortunately ended its civil war, though reconciliation has proved challenging. Following the March UN Human Rights Council resolution on Sri Lanka, we continue to call for credible efforts to ensure accountability and justice,” she added.

dont forget that sri lanka has a very experienced army and we will only support russia and china + Arabic countries for the next big war. via DM Android App

Let us hope all genuine peace loving people in Sri Lanka completely reject this idea without question. Disasters like no one can imagine and the likes of devastation in Iraq, Libya, Afghanistan, formerly in Vietnam etc might be a reality IF this is allowed and once 'their' Military gather sufficient intelligence if given access to Sri Lanka freely. It is the other way round! US can have our specialist Military training (conventional) rather than just drop bombs from air to kill including innocent women and children method.

No thanks please. All this new development is third world war situation is looming large with Russia taking the barbarians for the task and also Russia and China going head to save the peace in the world. Show the US barbarians where to get off!

Don't think we need any military relationship with this bully.
They were the instigator of the resolution at the UNHCR against Sri Lanka to appease their donors the LTTE Rump. They break every rule in the book as far as human rights are concerned. Their main antagonism to Sri Lanka is that we are closer to China in recent years. At least the Chinese do not stab us in the back.

    Niro Thursday, 17 April 2014 06:22 AM

We will not have military ties with US or its allies. Our close friends are China and Russia hence all military ties would be with them.

Do you think this Govt can satisfy US/UN ?
