The CID informed the Mount Lavinia Magistrate Harsha Setunga that they have initiated investigations on five telephone numbers over the killing of Sunday Leader editor Lasantha Wickrematunga near the Malagalage Primary school at Attidiya on January 8 last year.

The CID filing a report in court submitted that the investigations had been initiated to obtain details of the five telephone numbers that were decoded from five towers in the vicinity of Attidiya and all five connections had been obtained by tendering one national identity card.

On questioning the owner of the identity card had stated that his identity card was lost from his custody and he had not lodged any complaint with the police.

The suspect B. Prasanna Perera who was alleged to have robbed the mobile phone of Mr. Lasantha Wickrematunga was remanded till March 5. Further inquiry was postponed for March 5.

CID you did agreat job! Took more a year,
    This is the right time,,

Gota has said that he knows who the killers were ... the CID should ask him first.

    Thursday, 18 February 2010 10:33 PM

They will 'plant' any foe, for this 'fall.'

    Thursday, 18 February 2010 10:20 PM

    'The mob' rules.

    Thursday, 18 February 2010 08:03 PM

Why is this investigation so slow and lethargic? The CID should have been 'on the case' immediately. There were enough witnesses and there are many who 'know' who did this dastardly act. There is no real justice in Sri Lanka. Anyone who can leave the country, is leaving, to countries where there is both justice & the rule of law.

    Sear Sinha,
    Absolutely, it is very funny.

    Thursday, 18 February 2010 01:17 PM

Ask Gota, he said who is behind the killing of Lasantha. If this statement was made by laymen he would have been behind the bar by now.

    Thursday, 18 February 2010 01:08 PM

    Amila,

Give chance to CID. Don't write baloney.

    Thursday, 18 February 2010 01:06 PM

Electronic evidence is not valid in courts as that can be made posible the way one wants.

    Thursday, 18 February 2010 12:58 PM

Getting curioser and curioser - I thought that only the Wheels of God grind slowly ans surely - not the CIDwho well known for quick action against all anti MR oersons.

    Thursday, 18 February 2010 12:47 PM

Main players in the scene these days know who is responsible. If it was a normal citizen this wouldnt have draged this late. Only the people who has power in their hands can hold the justice.

    Thursday, 18 February 2010 12:47 PM

SL can fool some of the people all of the time, and all of the people some of the time, but can not fool all of the people all of the time.

    Thursday, 18 February 2010 11:48 AM

This a total divertion.Nothing will come out,for obvious reasons.

    Thursday, 18 February 2010 12:42 PM

This investigation is not going any where. Why did it take over a year to find the callers. This is a days job with the right authorization,

    Thursday, 18 February 2010 12:35 PM

Govt is inefficient. They dont know how to conduct an investigation.

    Thursday, 18 February 2010 12:33 PM

    Who killed Lasantha????????????

    Thursday, 18 February 2010 12:15 PM

Is that all they could do even after one year from the murder. But swift action had been taken on some other cases. Probably, the priority is decided from the top and conveyed to the IGP.

    Thursday, 18 February 2010 12:02 PM

this will be another unsolved murder. this will increase the no of unsolved murder list.where are we heading?

    Thursday, 18 February 2010 12:01 PM

It took them more than a year to trace these numbers to the towers and the ID? In this age of super computers and what not, its a pathetic state of affairs. MR and the gang, you may be able to fool all the people some of the time and some of the people all the time. But you cannot fool all the people all the time.

    Thursday, 18 February 2010 12:01 PM

Bravo! after one year a Major break thru. Brilliant. keep it up!

    Thursday, 18 February 2010 11:58 AM

Fairy Tails of CID. (Criminals In Disguise).

    Thursday, 18 February 2010 11:57 AM

I'm on the run... Lasantha's Ghost is chasing me....!.

    Thursday, 18 February 2010 11:51 AM

Lasanth's Ghost Scares the King !.

    Thursday, 18 February 2010 11:48 AM

WOOOW Took one year to find out 5 telephone numbers belong to one ID card. Wooow I hope SF case will end soon other wise all Sri Lankan's will march to temples tree.
