Lankans heading for Ausi netted

At least 17 Sri Lankans, illegally heading towards Australia in a trawler had been apprehended by the Sri Lankan Navy about 20 nautical miles south of Hambantota last night, a spokesman said.

SLN spokesman Commander K.Waranakulasuriya said that these persons, who were from Kudawella, Mirissa had been brought to Galle and would be handed over to the Police for further inquiries.

A stock of dry rations, water bottles were also taken into custody from these immigrants, he said.
