the sponsor will settle the medical bills - thats very good but what about componsation for hearling loss nd her wages + other monies that are due to her? I am not sure what the labour law in Oman for house maids are but i am sure that the sponsor could face criminl chargres for body harm.

What about legal action against those sponsors. I have never seen any legal action against them by Sri Lankan embassies other than asking them to settle hospital bills. Blacklisting schemes are just to icing those atrocities from out.

Sri Lankann government must do more to these unfortunate workers who leave the country out of poverty. A fair compensation must be given. In UK an upcountry maid from Sri Lanka was ill treated by a Kuwaiti employer and the court ordered a compensation of 350,000 sterling pounds which is in excess of 70 million rupees.
