According to the Fraud Investigations Bureau, several acres of government land from Kuliyapitiya and Puttalam had been used after forging the certificates that were issued by the Board. The forged certificates had come to light after a lawyer had forwarded the certificates for confirmation to the Tea, Rubber and Coconut Estates Board.
The attention of the Plantation and Industries Ministry was also focused recently on the misuse of government land, where the police was instructed to take action against those culprits who misuse government land. (Daily Mirror online)
