Champa Somaratna, the wife of Premakumar Gunaratnam, has said that her husband was not affiliated with the separatist LTTE although he was a Tamil, news agencies reported.

Giving series of interviews to several international news agencies, she had said that her husband had launched the Frontline Socialists Party “because of the unlawful abductions and the human rights violations in Sri Lanka,” and his role as the party's main political activist had “a real connection” with his disappearance.

''In Sri Lanka there is no proper Opposition. All the opposition [parties] are suppressed by the government,'' she said.

She said Kumar had been staying at a house in north-west Colombo. His friends had gone to the house in search of him when he failed to attend an early morning meeting on Saturday and found the place ransacked.

“He was arrested early in the morning. About 25 armed people entered the house. They threatened the neighbours and asked them to switch off the lights and close the windows and doors,” Somaratna told Australia's ABC radio.

“Then they abducted him — there is evidence of that inside the house.” (Agencies)

Can you prove he was in Sri Lanka ??
And if she was why was he holidaying alone with others but not with you and your family ??
Even Australian Government cannot provide evidence that he left Australia.
He could be still in Australia.

Down with the JVP & ALL its traitors. Down with Premkumar Gunaratnam - go away to the UK, they want people like you to look after your precious Human Rights !

    Rohan Monday, 09 April 2012 11:50 PM

Interestingly, the main JVP has not made any comment yet!!!

The problem in Sri Lanka is that any tamil is considered a terrorist unless they toe the brothers. This has to stop. Time for the international community to take drastic action before the situation gets worse and there are more disappearances and murders.

No Australian can be a member of a political party in Sri Lanka. We do not want another 1971 insurrection.

    Joseph Tuesday, 10 April 2012 02:20 AM

It has now been revealed that the missing Frontline Socialist Party (FSP) leader, Premkumar Gunaratnam, used an Australian passport (N 1016123) bearing the name, Noel Mudalige, to return to Sri Lanka last September. So it looks like he a LTTE guy after all.

    Nodrog Tuesday, 10 April 2012 05:30 AM

Also, can he engage in political work on a tourists visa?

    Bandara Tuesday, 10 April 2012 06:03 AM

Even if unconnected with LTTE he deserves punishments for his connections with unlawful criminal acts.

    Mr Big Foot
Who told you this? We have Tamils living all over the country (apart from north and east, in the central hill areas and the commercial capital Colombo are examples and they are present in many other places). Only a particular segment complains of these problems. May be they are problem makers and end up facing 'problems'. Not all Tamils support the government, but they are living the same lives we Sinhalese and Muslims live. On hind sight, if they had supported the govenment, much more could have been done for their development.

All above comments say abduction is legal. Is this the type of country you want for our future generation?

Amit Yoga Tuesday, 10 April 2012 11:15 AM

No opposition in Sri Lanka you say? Oh yes we all know how the JVP dealt with those who opposed them.

    Balasuriya Tuesday, 10 April 2012 08:31 PM

    Nice Picture.Socialism...!!!?

    Mervyn Tuesday, 10 April 2012 10:14 PM

Thank God that he was not killed like his brother but only deported.

Any moslem in Australia is also treated as a terrorist
