Karu appointed new Speaker

UNP MP and former Public Administration Minister Karu Jayasuriya was appointed uncontested as the Speaker of new parliament a short while ago.

The inaugural session of the eighth parliament commenced today at 9.30 a.m.

President Maithripala Sirisena is scheduled to address the parliament at 3.00 p.m. (YP)

Speak selection is good but who has been selected for the deputy speaker is utter foolish.The person who has denied by people is in the place where legislation are made and approved.
