Special Commissioner of the now dissolved Colombo Municipal Council (CMC) Omar Kamil today hit back at the UNP saying it was the opposition party and not him who was responsible for the corruption within the CMC.

Speaking to Daily Mirror online Kamil said that the UNP had misled the people by urging them to elect the “spectacle” group led by Mohamed Imtiaz to the CMC and this led to a corrupt administration.

Omar Kamil who was the previous Chief City administrator of the now dissolved CMC was responding to a comment made by UNP MP Ravi Karunanayake this week who had claimed that Kamil was also a stakeholder of the corruption the CMC faced.

Kamil added that the corruption inquiry by the courts was held for the period of June 2006 to October 2008 and that he was appointed in August of 2009 and therefore there was no basis to blame him. (Daily Mirror online)

Whatever said and done you all are either directly or indirectly responsible for CMC corruption. As a chief city administrator, you represent the interest of the government. Despite government knowing that CMC was highly corrupted, not dissolved as they new that UNP would have come to power. Such a unwise course of action has caused a huge loss to the tax payer.

Dear Kamil. I have respect on you, but if you say corrption is before your term, why can't you ask the government about the dissolution of the CMC. No point to charge for previous party for corruption , but to take legal action against the corrupted party. Are you satisfying some one.

Dont find fault with others after the cat is out of the bag. U should highlight things when it is found on yr tenure. Not after u lose yr things.

Kamil will tell anything now to safeguard his position. His conscious if spoken to should tell better who is responsible for what.

We never thought YOU are an opportunist like other 3rd Grade Politicians in the Government side. We are very much displease to note your statement. Be a Gentleman and never be an opportunist for personal gains.

What a stupid professional comment by this gentleman. He was the person handling the administration of the CMC during this so called corruption. How can a responsible person blame the opposition for that. The government & it's cronies making this country a big mess. Why can't our people understand this simple theory? Once our people were internationally well recognized as educated but now it has become worst than Somalia & Ethiopia for lacking in thinking which is right & which is wrong. Winning the war only doesn't solve the problem of the people.

MY FELLOW CITIZENS PLEASE WAKE UP BEFORE ITS TOO LATE!!!

    God Bless Sri Lanka!!!
