The JVP alleged that the Thandikulam police and persons who identify themselves as army intelligence personnel had harassed member of the party who were making preparations to open a JVP District office in Vauniya.

The OIC of the Thandikulam police had gathered information regarding JVP members who were decorating and making the final preparations for the opening ceremony of a JVP District office in Vauniya, which is scheduled to be opened by JVP Party Secretary Tilvin Silva, the JVP media unit told Daily Mirror online.

The JVP members have been harassed and threatened by these individuals from late last night and the owner of the rented building had also been told to report to the police to give a statement. However the party office will be opened today and action will be taken accordingly, the JVP said. (Daily Mirror online)  Pics. by  Romesh Madushanka

With the 18th amendment passed, this is just the beginning of this type of thing

At every turn, JVP is reminded of its folly in supporting MR to become the President in 2005.

This should not happen. The JVP should be allowed to open their office, which is a democratic right of their.

However the JVP too should not mess around for political gains in areas liberated by the Government. People in these areas can do without politicians' games ,after they have suffered for 30 long years.

The JVPers seem to have very short memories. They used to burn our people on tyres. Now they (JVPers) seem to whimper even when stung by a mosquito !

What matters to public is what JVP stands for today. They should be allowed to do democratic political activities anywhere in the country. Do not chase them to underground again like before.
