The Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna (JVP) fears there are moves to arrest some of the senior party members and had discussed its concerns with the party lawyers, informally today, a party official told Daily Mirror Online.

The discussions focused mostly on what legal action the party could take if the government decided to detain some of the party’s senior members.

“Some government ministers have openly said that senior JVP members could be arrested soon. Considering the government’s behaviour towards General Sarath Fonseka, it would not be surprising if the government decides to detain some of our senior party members,” the party official said on the condition of anonymity.

The official added that if the possibility of the arrests grew stronger, then the party would consider informing the foreign missions in Colombo. “Considering the government’s behavior, we might just inform the international community of our safety,” the party official said.

Its funny that the people who criticized International Community, are looking for shelter under them. Anyway, good that they realize that we cannot survive as a country alone.

When one is a part of the conspiracy, you've got to anticipate arrests.........

Once and still a Beautiful pearl in the Ocean,
A nation bleeding with tears and fear,
What sins have the children of serendib done to be opressed and punished in such a manner.
Since 4 days the Saviour of the Rag Tag army that became a respected force is languishing in custody. Kings lead their armies to war and not hide in the bunkers.

    Friday, 12 February 2010 10:21 AM

If this is "IMMINENT", the last nail of the coffin of "DEMOCRACY" too is IMMINENT. International Community will not do anything s India is supporting these acts to the hilt. Since 1948, India has done enough damage to this little country & she will see that this island is never stabilized. Due to the fear of crossing the path of India none of the Western countries will ever say anything against what is going on here under the autocracy of one family. Take my word, Western countries will only provide asylum to anyone who seeks the same.

    Friday, 12 February 2010 05:14 PM

MR is asking for trouble, itseems. Boys in the right time start the game, cannot tolerate further.

    Friday, 12 February 2010 05:16 PM

Now Rajapakshe is touching the wrong eye ball. May be coming days are not good for him. Feel sorry man !!!!!!!

    Friday, 12 February 2010 01:33 PM

Wanna leave when things get tough for you? be my guest :)

    Friday, 12 February 2010 10:36 AM

Sri Lankans start packing your things and get out of this undemocratic island....... its going to beat some of the countries in africa.....and the general public has to be blamed for this and not the government because we have elected them and given them all the powers on earth to do what ever they think right

    Saturday, 13 February 2010 03:28 AM

Problem is arrest is not happening hot hot, to keep the protest industry busy.

    Friday, 12 February 2010 05:34 PM

It is the third wipe out for the JVP. First it was Sirimavo, then great Premadasa and finally the greatest of all Mahinda. JVP is reduced to nothing more than a fart. Only sound and stench no impact.

    Saturday, 13 February 2010 04:03 AM
