JVP dissidents who boycotted the party’s special convention today said that they would sever political links with the party hereafter. The party had its special convention today to appoint a new set of office bearers expelling the dissidents who have now formed a new organisation called “Movement for People’s Struggle' (MPS).

Addressing a press conference, MPS convener Chameera Koswatte who was in the JVP central committee earlier, said that today’s convention was a fraudulent attempt to capture the power of the party through maneuvering and manipulations. (Kelum Bandara)
