Tamil Nadu political party, AIADMK, leader J. Jayalalithaa today said the reported employment of Chinese labour to revamp infrastructure in war-ravaged areas of Sri Lanka can be detrimental to India's security and asked the Centre to "act before it is too late".

Chinese labour force in Sri Lanka is "infiltrated with Chinese spies and intelligence personnel, with a specific mandate to commence anti-Indian surveillance and espionage operations from India's hitherto safe southern flanks", she alleged in a statement today.

She raised apprehensions that it could immediately affect Tamil Nadu as "Sri Lanka is hardly 20 km away from the southern coast of Tamil Nadu."

"The Indian Government should act before it is too late. It has to talk to Sri Lanka and talk tough," she said. (PTI)

This is a very funny idea. We don't need Arab funded Osamas. Sri Lankan Muslims are good enough.

    Friday, 18 June 2010 11:06 AM

    Madam Jaya,

You helped the terrorist to detroy Sri Lanka, by doing murders, bombings and shelter in Tamil Nadu, now that we are trying to develop our country, you have no place there now, you are trying to gain repute by using the Tamil issue.

    Friday, 18 June 2010 11:10 AM

Why should we? Sri Lanka belongs to all Sri Lankans

    Friday, 18 June 2010 11:18 AM

Funny that 'proud' Sinhala people dont mind selling out the country to the Chinese but oppose even mutually beneficial agreements between India and Sri Lanka like FTA, CEPA, etc. Such is the nature of the people of this country that China will soon be told to 'mind their own business', 'stick to their own affairs', etc. There is a fine line between being proud and showing vanity.

    Friday, 18 June 2010 11:28 AM

Jayalalita is pulling the Indian rope tricks to create stir in Indian politics. It is too late madam, the Chinese will walk into Tamilnadu.

    Friday, 18 June 2010 11:28 AM

we must invite the Arabs to invest in more Mosques and schools for Muslims. We must give more opportunity to the Muslims. we can send village women to earn valuable foreign exchange and learn Arabic language and Islam.

    Friday, 18 June 2010 11:33 AM

Yes she has to mind her own business but are we really in a position to say it, since SL is mortgage to India. Isnt MR in their pocket?
China is much better than India in nay case.

    Friday, 18 June 2010 11:45 AM

What about the Indians who are here in large numbers?

    Friday, 18 June 2010 12:27 PM

Chinese "spies" are better than Indian "Spies" because we can at least identify them without any difficulty.

    Friday, 18 June 2010 01:10 PM

Jayalalitha has nothing more to scream about now that her 'boys' are no more, so she has begun to harp on the Chinese being here. Her's is a cry in the wilderness indeed!

    Friday, 18 June 2010 10:54 AM

who is she, to comment in Sri Lanka. Madam you take care of your own business. Our home affairs belong to us

    Friday, 18 June 2010 02:36 PM

Hambantota is NOT a War revage area, Mam. Pla take a lesson on Geography from Indian Embassy People.

    Friday, 18 June 2010 03:08 PM

    Shut up! India.

    Friday, 18 June 2010 03:23 PM

Indians are even more paranoid than we are! Also they are not known for their goodwill towards neighbours.

    Friday, 18 June 2010 04:32 PM

Why can't they employ SRI LANKANS, for these jobs?

    Friday, 18 June 2010 07:32 PM

What's her problem? Why not mind your own business, Jaya Lalitha?

    Friday, 18 June 2010 08:44 PM

We know that you are 'rattling your tail' for nothing other than to attract the Tamil-Nadu public. (Nothing is working out for you these days.)

    Saturday, 19 June 2010 11:00 AM

Time frame is very limited and SL does not have skilled labour force.

    Saturday, 19 June 2010 11:23 AM

Madame we have lot of Chinese restaurants too !.

    Friday, 18 June 2010 10:12 AM

She may have forgotten.... India is bordering China from Sikkim and many other eastern states.
Sri Lanka has sea all around her. India may need to look in to their own matters rather than dictating to other countries.

    Friday, 18 June 2010 09:29 AM

What 2 do madame? If U guys don't wanna help we have no other option

    Friday, 18 June 2010 09:32 AM

Go to hell with India. As a country we, all communities, paid in blood to India's adventures here since 1983. Enough is enough.

Chinese are better than you as they don't have any bad records here as that of India.

North or South, we love China but poor India does not have any one to seek support here in our country.

    Friday, 18 June 2010 09:36 AM

Keep off india this is not for u to decide

    Friday, 18 June 2010 09:41 AM

They won't stay here for long as the chinese food is in short supply! They won't get enough snakes and frogs!

    Friday, 18 June 2010 09:48 AM

It is for India to deal with border disputes with China. Sri Lanka is a sovereign entity and Jayalalithaa's comments are disingenuous and shrouded in anti-Lankan sentiment. What threat would China pose to southern India anyway.

    Friday, 18 June 2010 09:55 AM

Who are you to determine our affairs ??? China is a better and genuine friend compare to India. Anyway don't put Indian government in trouble by your statements.

    Friday, 18 June 2010 10:08 AM

China is already working on developing strategic ports in Bangladesh & Pakistan. Along with the portsover here the ports, India are probably going to lose a lot of business. We are in the midst of an economic battle.

    Friday, 18 June 2010 10:09 AM

what right do they even have to make suck a claim... we are an independant country... we can use aliens for development if we wanted to. :)

This is a problem of electing over sized fat women with nothing better to do into power

    Friday, 18 June 2010 09:22 AM

Jayalalitha helped the tigers allowing them to train in south india against sri lanka government, so why cant we allow china for our development work in the north, which intention is far better than hers??

    Friday, 18 June 2010 10:16 AM

Mind your business madam. Deal with your domestic problem first.

    Friday, 18 June 2010 10:19 AM

What you people fail to understand is he fact , No employment for Sri Lankans even for a tea boy. Country will be flooded with Chinese where these employment can be shared out to the Sri Lankans.
What I hear is the Chinese are busy emptying their ex crooks from their country and shipping to Sri Lanka. This is the difference: Western World Developments and the Communist China. Western development always employ the locals. Ponder the thoughts.

    Friday, 18 June 2010 10:19 AM

Has Sri Lanka become a "Crown Colony" of China ?
Are there any half Chinese children running around already ?

    Friday, 18 June 2010 10:20 AM

Your presence is a threat to us. We have to ask the centre to look into your doings before its too late. We are just emerging from a big crisis.

    Friday, 18 June 2010 10:29 AM

Dear Madam, I guess you people in India has so many issues to sort out including terrorisom activities and cost of living issues. The day you sort out those matters you may look in to Sri Lanka affairs... Our President may consider giving you an advisory post..........

    Friday, 18 June 2010 10:38 AM

GIVE THE NORTH -TO CHINA & INDIA

    Friday, 18 June 2010 10:44 AM

Poor, Jaylalitha, afraid that Tamil Nadu wont be able to bully our country anymore!!

    Friday, 18 June 2010 10:46 AM

They might be Ex-Crooks in China... but they are no match for the Ayya's in lanka :) Having said that if it is a issue we can solve it our selves we have a wise president to run the country.

Let the fat lady mind her own business in the state that she is in.
