The government has decided to reduce the price of diesel, petrol and kerosene in the Jaffna peninsula by Rs.3 with immediate effect. The decision was taken during the Cabinet meeting held in Killinochi this morning. (S.A.J)
Good point. Are we not equal in this resplendent island?

This is to show the entire world that any part of Sri Lanka is safe for even the president and his entire cabinet to have a meeting. I can understand why the LTTE supporters are agitated. But what does not make sense is why the anti govt readers don't undertand the simple reason for having the metting in Kili.

It is always better if equality is applied covering the entire island on all matters rather than giving preferences area wise, to justify the concept of one nation.
Smart Aleck Wednesday, 14 July 2010 09:53 AM
Yes! This can be interpreted as REVERSE DISCRIMINATION.
HaHaHa Wednesday, 14 July 2010 07:13 AM
This is one of the fundamental rights Jaffna people asking for!!

Well done Mahinda -

Its a good move by the Govt, but if they can reduce the fuel prices in the North why cant they reduce it in the other areas. This is absurd decision of the Govt. Also the Cabinet must put all its resources into use and find a quick solution to the displaced persons who have been living for more than an year as refugees in their own land.

I offer my house for the next Cabinette meeting free of charge. May be these guys will decide to reduce some items for the benefit of my village.

Typical comment of a Party politician.
Bird Eye Wednesday, 14 July 2010 01:46 PM
Fundamental rights does not mean breakaway republic.
RajasH Wednesday, 14 July 2010 07:41 AM
ha ha but there is no fuel available in the penninsula, isnt it a banned item and only rationed?
gnapala Wednesday, 14 July 2010 07:42 AM
Guys! You don't know the fact that Fuel prices in Jaffna is still more expensive than other areas of Sri Lanka. I don't know the exact price but it is still higher than colombo.
Concerned Wednesday, 14 July 2010 08:08 AM
For how long? Don't hoodwink those people with false promises!
Dinesh Wednesday, 14 July 2010 08:09 AM
Why price reduction is only applicable to Jaffna. Is it a separate country.
