The Police had then arrested the suspect who was attempting to sell the infant. Both the mother and the suspect were produced to the Theldeniya Magistrate Courts today and were remanded until September 29. (JAL)

In addition to long term jail sentences, public caning should be introduced as a punishment to those found guilty with this type of offences.
