A body of a three week old male infant was recovered from a parcel left in a bus luggage rack belonging to the Horowupathana depot yesterday afternoon, the Police media unit said.

The body was found wrapped inside a blue colored plastic bag left in the bus when the bus conductor was cleaning the bus after his journey. The bus with the child was rushed to the Horowupathana police. After medical examinations doctors had declared that the child had died few days earlier.

The Horowupathana police are conducting further investigation into the matter. (GS) (Daily Mirror online)

What a terrible news to hear.......

    buddy. Saturday, 12 February 2011 04:30 AM

How many incident in the past 12months are been reported as such that mother killing the own infant who are less than a month old. Is government taking any action to inquire why these sort of cold blooded murder's are happening. Is that the illicit affairs lead up to these or the current economic situation? What ever it is government should act in authority to investigate.

What did this baby do to deserve such horrifying treatment? The parent responsible for this should be traced and charged with man slaughter.

all these things because of the poor sex education. health officials and other responsible parties should look into the issue broadly. Don't punish the lady who adopted the child without a real father. this is not a that much simple case .resolving these type of issues should be involve sophisticated measures. not just legal actions.

Vey sad indeed that this 100% innocent baby's little life was snuffed out by a person not deserving to be a parent.
