The new Navy Chief S. Dissanayake while assuming duties today said that India can provide proof, if there is any that the Sri Lankan Navy killed the Indian fisherman during the alleged shooting incident.

The Indian government last week summoned Sri Lankan High Commissioner in New Delhi Prasad Kariyawasam and asked for an explanation on the shooting incident, where an Indian fisherman was allegedly killed in the high seas.

However, the Sri Lankan Navy has denied that they had fired and said they were assisting the fishermen to return into Indian waters. It was reported on Wednesday (12th) that the Sri Lankan Navy opened fire on Indian fishermen in the Indian Ocean killing one and critically injuring another.

The firing reportedly occurred as the Lankans believed the fisherman were trespassing. But it is not clear whether the fisherman were in Indian territorial waters or in Lanka's, reports said. (Daily Mirror online)

India is the biggest Donor country we have, Not china you Sri Lankans. So you get them on the wrong foot they will just crush Sri Lanka. They can over run us in a matter of hours. Note china Russia will not even think of allying with us if it's the case. first India should take care their fishermen not trespassing our waters. Indian fishermen is world famous for that and recently i read in newspaper that Indian fishermen employed in Qatar fishing vessels went to KSA waters and arrested.

Again they must be involved in Human trafficking, Drug trafficking etc.. Even same fishermen helped terrorists in the past.

We can't go on pleasing everybody! We must stand on our Valid arguments now.

Is SL Navy gone mad to enter Indian waters and fire on their fishermen? What a joke?

Yes, provide the proof...! Without proof how India can blame us..! What if we blame on India for firing Srilankan fishermen...? simply we can't do it without proof..! now the technology is sound enough to deter such incidents.. This episode may be a conspiracy of Karunanidhi or Viko..! Is there an election nearby in Tamilnadu...?
