A woman from Sri Lanka lodged a complaint with the Chennai city police commissioner on Thursday, alleging that her in-laws were trying to get her husband married to another woman.

The police said R. Dhihana, 26, a native of Vavunya in Sri Lanka, was in love with S. Rahulan, 25, also a Sri Lankan national. The couple got married in Sri Lanka on May 6, 2005 and had three children.“Dhihana alleged in her complaint that Rahulan left for Chennai in October 2010 but did not return as scheduled,” a police officer said. “He made a call to Dhihana on January 3, 2011 and told her that his parents were arranging for him to get married to another woman.”

Dhihana arrived with her children in Chennai few days ago and went to Rahulan’s house in Anbu Nagar, Valasaravakkam, but his parents did not allow her inside. “Despite repeated attempts, she was not allowed to meet her husband,” the officer said. “She said that her in-laws had moved her husband to an undisclosed location.”

Police commissioner T. Rajendran forwarded Dhihana’s complaint to the Vadapalani assistant commissioner of police for further action.

She is not stupid what about the three children
parents should never do such things when his son is married & having kids to get married to a another women for what????

    Perakadoruwa Friday, 28 January 2011 05:13 AM

She can claim the children are his; does the agree? only a test will prove it. A story always has two sides and a third degree. but then again this guy should be a man and end it face on.

Most of the marrages are broken becuase of the involvement of the in-laws. Many in-laws look at the daughter in-law as an alien not as thier own daughter.
Severe punishment should be introduced. This moran made three kids with his wife and now blaming the parents.

In India most of them have two marriages, even the Indian origins living in Sri Lanka, I can give name as this is an open forum. Indian politicians also have two marriages. though not legally bound, accepted by the society. We truly value it is not practiced in sri lanka (tamils).

"Monster in Law" at work. Anyway, this typical of most Indian families who even resort to killing the daughters in law for lack of dowry.
