The whole world knows that the sentence against my husband is an act of political revenge and instead of discouraging me it has strengthened my resolve to fight for the freedom of my husband, MP Sarath Fonseka’s wife Anoma Fonseka told media while ago at a media briefing.

Sarath Fonseka fell hook line and sinker for the JVP's propaganda lunatism, and believed that he was above the law of decency. It showed his political immaturity and greed to grab power, but it does not give MR the right to treat a man who dedicated the best part of his life to serving the military and who was dubbed the best commander during the height of war by the defence secretary this way. It is an extremely shoddy treatment of a man who gave so much for his country as a military personal not as a politician.
