After the West Indies’ pullout from the India tour due to a pay dispute and Sri Lanka Cricket's decision to fill in with a five-match ODI series, Kumar Sangakkara has expressed concerns about the SLC decision.

 “Our 6 weeks of pure fitness work ends abruptly. Have a week to do a months requirement of skills work before India. Planning ahead anyone?”, Sangakkara twitted.

According to media reports that Sri Lankan cricketers are currently under an intense fitness programme conducted by the former national rugby union skipper Chandrishan Perera. The programme was tasked at conditioning players for the busy schedule ahead leading up to next year's World Cup in Australia and New Zealand.

The current fitness programme was a sequel to a report filed by the SLC's chief operations officer Carlton Bernadus, which had raised concerns about the fitness levels and the fielding standards.

Sri Lanka Cricket has planned a five-match ODI series between India and Sri Lanka, to be played from 1 November 2014 following a request made by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI).{jcomments on}

    When BCCI cannot find someone to fill the gap, they always turn to weaker parties as they know they will do anything for money. India trying to claim damages from WICB but Indians too do dirty things.

    Sri lanka is a reputed country for keeping aside the veterens and taking the instrutions from half wit idiots.Dear Sanga ,you are among the very few stars of the Game.You not onlly play as one of the best,but prove the spirit of the game "Gentleman".The universal truth will be assiting for You forever.This class is your inheritence,sir.(I am 68 years old,and I love and respect you from my heart.)Sisirax

    Sanga has a point. But do not forget that when Australia and the west indies boycotted world cup matches in 1996, India led by Mohammed Azarudhin and Pakistan led by Wasim Akram toured Sri lanka to show the solidarity. Although the itinerary is hectic for Sri Lankan players , this can be considered as a gratitude to India..

    Yours not to question. You are paid to do a job so just do it. Or else quit because there are many others waiting to fill your shoes.

    The players must have the freedom to withdraw from the urgently arranged tour so that youngsters will get the opportunity to make seniors free of injuries.
